San Mateo is a city in Northern California on the San Francisco Peninsula. It is in the heart of Silicon Valley, approximately 20 miles south of San Francisco; and approximately 30 miles north of San Jose. Coyote Point Recreation Area is more than 600 acres and has many amenities, including a large castle-themed playscape, picnic tables, and beach access for swimming and water activities. Seal Point Park is a waterfront park that offers swimming, windsurfing, a dog park, and pathways for walking and biking.


Schools

San Mateo-Foster City School District strives to inspire lifelong learning and provide rigorous education emphasizing technology use. The district has 21 schools that serve more than 10,000 students in San Mateo and Foster City. There are also private schools in the area.
